Liposuction Q&A

1

What is Sciton laser liposuction?
The Sciton Joule Laser System is used to liquefy fat and tighten skin using two distinct wavelengths of laser light. Incisions are made via small liposculpting cannulas. This laser system gently melts fat so that it may be removed from your body.

2

What parts of the body can be treated?
As with SlimLipo, the Sciton Laser Lipo system can reduce fat on areas such as the stomach, back, buttocks, inner and outer thighs, chin, neck, love handles, and upper arms.

3

How does laser lipo differ from traditional liposuction?
Traditional liposuction uses vacuum suction, leaves larger scars, causes more bleeding and more post-treatment pain, and requires longer healing times than laser liposuction, which efficiently melts and liquefies fat, which is then gently removed from your body.

4

What can I expect if I get laser lipo at Bellava?
You’ll have a private consultation with Dr. C.S. Kim, who will customize a treatment program just for you. With over 10-plus years experience in cosmetic medicine, Dr. Kim is a highly competent and caring physician who can help you achieve your desired look. Every laser lipo patient receives Dr. Kim’s advice on healthy weight maintenance and fitness post-treatment.

5

Is laser lipo good for women and men?
Laser liposuction is for both women and men who have areas of unwanted fat and need skin tightening.

6

Is laser lipo safe?
Very safe since it is done under local anesthesia, laser lipo is much safer than traditional liposuction, and is just as safe as SlimLipo™.

7

How fast is the laser lipo procedure?
Depending on the area being treated, laser body sculpting can take from one to three hours.

8

How many laser lipo treatments will I need?
Laser liposuction is performed in a single treatment session.

9

How long is the recovery time, and what should I expect?
Laser lipo recovery time is much shorter than traditional liposuction--just 1-3 days. In fact, some patients can go to work the very next day. You may see slight bruising at the small incision sites. A compression garment is required for a short period of time, post procedure.

10

How do I know if laser lipo is for me versus a tummy tuck?
To determine which procedure is best for you, schedule a free consultation with Dr. Kim who can customize your treatment.

Tummy Tuck Q&A

1

What is the difference between a tummy tuck and a mini tummy tuck?
The main difference between a tummy tuck and a mini tummy tuck is the amount of sagging skin that needs to be removed the amount of the tightening of the stomach muscles, etc. In general mini tummy tuck as opposed to a full tummy tuck requires much less abdominal muscle tightening and loose skin removal below the belly button.

2

How does Dr. Kim carry out a tummy tuck?
Throughout his 10-plus-year career in cosmetic surgery, Dr. Kim has carried out many tummy tuck procedures. Pre-procedure, Dr. Kim will discuss your particular case and recommend a customized treatment just for you. In Bellava’s Joint Commission-accredited medical suite, Dr. Kim then carries out the tummy tuck procedure. A horizontal incision is placed just within or above the pubic area. The length of the incision depends on the amount of skin to be removed.

3

How long is a tummy tuck procedure?
A tummy tuck procedure usually takes about 2-3 hours.

4

What type of anesthesia is used?
A tummy tuck requires general anesthesia, whereas a mini tummy tuck can often be performed under local anesthesia.

5

What is tummy tuck recovery like?
You will be given a compression garment to wear and may resume gentle activities a few days after the surgery. However, you should take it easy for about two weeks post-procedure.

6

When can I return to work after a tummy tuck?
About two weeks after a tummy tuck, you can return to work. However avoid strenuous activities for 4-6 weeks.

7

Will I have a scar after a tummy tuck?
The resulting scar from a tummy tuck runs from hip to hip. The incision is made low on the stomach and is easily covered by bikini bottoms or undergarments.

8

Are tummy tuck results permanent?
The results can last for a long time, provided you maintain a proper diet and exercise regime.

9

Who is a good tummy tuck candidate?
A person who in good health and wishes to address sagging, excess skin around their stomach (which may have been caused by pregnancy, weight loss or gain, aging or heredity) is a good candidate for a tummy tuck. The best way to determine if a tummy tuck is right for you is to schedule a complimentary consultation with Dr. Kim.
